Ron Fletcher

Ron Fletcher was a dancer with Martha Graham's company when a knee problem brought him to Joe and Clara's studio in the 1940s. In the 1970s, he opened up his own studio in Beverly Hills, with the blessing of Clara Pilates. Rich and famous celebrities were among his clientele, and so he was instrumental in popularizing Pilates throughout the 1970s and 1980s.

He injected some of his own innovations (such as percussive breathing) to the exercise technique blended with teachings from Martha Graham, Yeichi Nimura, Alma Hawkins and Agnes de Mille. He calls his Pilates-inspired approach Ron Fletcher Work and has Pilates certification centers in Arizona, Colorado and British Columbia.
